  • Portland International Scholars Academy (PISA) is an optional full-day high èßäÊÓƵ program located at McDaniel and Roosevelt high èßäÊÓƵs. Students who have beginning English proficiency are eligible. Students in this program are fully integrated into the comprehensive high èßäÊÓƵ.

    Students may also choose to attend their neighborhood èßäÊÓƵ that has ELD support, but does not have a ELD program.

    Criteria:

    • Eligible for high èßäÊÓƵ.
    • Student scores Emerging on ELPA21/ Screener.

    The PISA/ELD program at McDaniel and Roosevelt High School offers classes for the core content areas of ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies in which teachers use appropriate scaffolding to make grade level standards aligned content comprehensible for èßäÊÓƵ, while èßäÊÓƵ take elective and CTE classes with their mainstream peers. The core ELD program classes are for two years. Students then transition to all mainstream classes the following year. SIFE/SLIFE (èßäÊÓƵ with interrupted education) are eligible to take foundational courses in literacy and math.

    The goal for èßäÊÓƵ in the PISA program is to earn a high èßäÊÓƵ diploma or to transition to PCC YES if they will age out at 21 before earning required credits.
