Our community enjoys bringing their canine companions to èßäÊÓƵ grounds during hours when èßäÊÓƵ and after-èßäÊÓƵ programs are not using the facilities.
Unfortunately, those sneaky canines manage to poop on our field and create some stinky situations for èßäÊÓƵ and staff.
We have decided to form a poop patrol! for details and to sign up for a shift.
Our shoes and noses thank you in advance for doing your part.
Blue Bags: The Peninsula PTA has a “blue bag” fundraiser through the Oregon Bottle Drop. Just grab a blue bag, fill it up with cans and return to your nearest bottle drop redemption center, located in Delta Park or the St. John’s Safeway. You can also make an easy donation to the Peninsula PTA by transferring funds from your personal “green bag” account to the Peninsula PTA account onlne. Pick up blue bags at the front office or on the porch at the bright yellow house across from the kindergarten pick up on Halleck, or the Mayfly Kenton. Thanks!
At Peninsula, reading, writing and math are fundamental. Enrichments are essential. Enrichment classes teach cross-curricular skills that demonstrate to èßäÊÓƵ how math applies to art, music, physical education, and beyond. Enrichments are the colorful ties that bind the fully educated child together. Each of these certified teachers has a subject "specialty," complete with its own set of adopted educational standards. Most enrichment teachers have stand-alone classes and all collaborate with homeroom teachers to make curricular connections. We want èßäÊÓƵ to know math doesn't just happen in "math class," it's all around us. Enrichments are fundamental to student engagement in èßäÊÓƵ. Enrichments foster agency within a child and their ability to participate in their education.

Two exceptional PPS educators, Ricardo Barber and Hang Jones, were recently named OnPoint Educators of the Year for 2025.
As part of this prestigious honor, both teachers will have their rent or mortgage paid for an entire year, and their èßäÊÓƵs also receive a $2,500 donation.
Ricardo Barber teaches third grade at Faubion, and Hang Jones serves as a social worker at Marysville Elementary.
The OnPoint Prize for Excellence in Education celebrates educators who embrace innovative teaching techniques that ignite enthusiasm in their èßäÊÓƵ.
Congratulations to Ricardo Barber and Hang Jones! And thank you both for everything you do to make a difference in the lives our èßäÊÓƵ.
The assignment their teacher gave them was simple – make a short film that begins with a phone call and ends with someone hanging up. Benson first-year èßäÊÓƵ Dylan Martinez-Torres and Dariel Soriano Zamora ran it all the way to a small city populated by two very big and rather iconic monsters – Godzilla and Hedora.
The result, Sorry, Wrong Number, is one of the more than 90 films entered into the annual Best of PPS Film Festival. The festival is a celebration of exceptional student filmmaking that includes a showcase at the historic Hollywood Theatre.
The fourth annual installment of the festival took place on May 21 and included a screening of 13 standout films. The films came from all over PPS and ran the gamut from Dylan and Dariel’s monster short to documentaries, film noir, and broadcast journalism.

Latest parent news:
Some teachers request that, in lieu of purchasing supplies for individual children this year, parents make a School Pay donation, giving teachers the freedom to make their own supply purchases. Each grade level will have its own funding source. Consider donating to each grade level fund in which you have a student enrolled. Lists are included in the School Pay link, so community members can see how the money will be spent. Please do not make purchases from these lists except for backpacks, headphones, water bottles, and three-ring binders (5th grade only).

ParentVue is a website that offers secure, private access to èßäÊÓƵ and student information, including class assignments, attendance, emergency contacts on file, the èßäÊÓƵ calendar, and teacher contact details. Parents and guardians can see information for all of their èßäÊÓƵ who attend èßäÊÓƵ in one place. For èßäÊÓƵ at the secondary level, student assignments and grades are available.
Click on the link to get started. Each parent or guardian will need an activation key (linked to the email address on file). The èßäÊÓƵ secretary can supply the key. Note: if you are calling the èßäÊÓƵ for the activation key, you must call from a phone number on file.
Each student also has an account to access the student version of this website, called StudentVue.
BREAKFAST and LUNCH are FREE for ALL Peninsula èßäÊÓƵ during the 24-25 èßäÊÓƵ year. Completing these forms helps Peninsula get access to other resources to which we may be entitled.
You will need your student's ID number to complete the paperwork. If the student is a returning Portland Public School student, their ID number can be found on their report card or in ParentVue. If the student is new to èßäÊÓƵ, you can get an ID number from the èßäÊÓƵ office.
If you have èßäÊÓƵ at èßäÊÓƵs other than Peninsula, where lunch is free for all èßäÊÓƵ, you still need to apply for èßäÊÓƵ attending Peninsula.
