    Accelerated Options

Roosevelt High School offers a variety of options for èßäÊÓƵ who have been identified as TAG (Talented and Gifted) or those who are looking to challenge themselves more in the classroom. This includes Advanced Placement courses, Dual Credit courses in which èßäÊÓƵ earn college credits, and the ability to take more advanced courses earlier in the èßäÊÓƵ’ high èßäÊÓƵ career.

The TAG Coordinator for Roosevelt is Clair Roix (croix@pps.net).

    Credit Recovery

Students have several opportunities to retake classes they have either not passes or want to earn a higher grade. These include:

    • Portland Evening Scholars
    • Portland Summer Scholars
    • Virtual Scholars

For more information and/or to sign up for one of these options contact your child’s èßäÊÓƵ counselor.

    Credit for Work/Volunteer Experience

Students can earn up to 2 elective credits per year for completing a required number of hours for working at a job and/or volunteering starting in the summer before their freshman year (a total of 6 credits for all 4 years of high èßäÊÓƵ). Students will need to fill out the Credit for Proficiency form and follow the directions on it to earn this credit. For more information talk with your èßäÊÓƵ counselor. Academic Support

For èßäÊÓƵ needing additional support for their studies Roosevelt offers these options:

    • We encourage èßäÊÓƵ and families to communicate directly with their teachers if they find themselves struggling in a class. Teachers are the best resources for additional support and will often times work with èßäÊÓƵ one-on-one when available. Teacher emails can be found under the staff link on the Roosevelt home page.
    • SUN School afterèßäÊÓƵ tutoring will offer tutoring for all èßäÊÓƵ Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 3:30pm to 5:30pm, and Wednesdays 1:50pm to 4:30pm. For more information contact Moryah Schindler at mschindler@pps.net
    • The Step-Up Program offers various support to èßäÊÓƵ considered an Academic Priority. Tutoring is Monday-Thursday 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. For more information, contact Sergio de Barros at sergio.debarros@openèßäÊÓƵnw.org
